Welcome to SahCan!

For more than 40 years, some of the Sahrawi people have been living in exile near Tindouf/Algeria in refugee camps in harsh conditions. At the same time the remaining family members in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara continue to suffer worst human rights violations under Moroccan occupation.

Sand storms are a common occurrence in the Sahrawi Refugee Camps near Tindouf/Algeria. This is in addition to hot climate conditions where temperature reaches 48 degrees Celsius in the summer.

About SahCan

Our Mission

Bring awareness of the Western Sahara cause to Canadians and the Government of Canada, and promote a just, and lasting political solution between the Sahrawis and Morocco. A solution that will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara. A solution that would put an end to the illegal Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.

What we do

Get Involved

  • Work with the Canadian Government where possible, non-governmental organizations, trade unions and human rights observers to report the human rights violations in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara and to hold Morocco accountable under International Laws and Norms, be it Economical, Social and/or Cultural.

Stop the plundering of Western Sahara's natural resources

  • Work on preventing and stopping Canadian companies that explore and do business illegally in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara without the consent of the Sahrawi people. Under the international law, only the Sahrawi people have the right to explore the resources in Western Sahara.

Our Programs

  • Organize events in Canada to bring awareness to the difficult conditions in the Refugee Camps near Tindouf/Algeria, and to the human rights violations by Morocco in the Occupied Territories of Western Sahara.
